The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and the Taliban insurgents have suffered casualties in battle for the control of Nawa district in Helmand.
The Taliban militants reportedly captured the control of the district for several hours before the Afghan forces manage to push them back out of the district.
According to reports, the Taliban insurgents had captured the main district administrative compound late on Wednesday night after launching a coordinated attack.
The local officials have not commented regarding the exact number of casualties during the clashes but reports suggest both sides have sustained heavy casualties.
This comes as reports emerged earlier suggesting that the Taliban insurgents have managed to take the fight close to Lashkargah city, the provincial capital of Helmand province.
The growing violence force the deputy chief of staff of the Afghan national army to visit the province along with some other senior officials to supervise and coordinate operations in this province.
Gen. Murad said over 100 Taliban insurgents have been killed so far and scores of others have sustained injuries but he did not comment regarding the casualties of the Afghan forces.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
