Work on Paktia dam to resume after seven years

Officials from Ministry of Energy and Water said a Russian company will resume construction of Machalgho dam in Paktia province.
The project costs more than $22 million USD.

“The project is crucial for Paktia province. We are working to resume the construction works,” said Mohammad Hakim Gheljaee, head of Water Supply and Water Implementation Supervision of the ministry.

Paktia provincial council members said the pervious contractor had received 30 percent of the project’s fund, but even five percent of the work was not completed.

“The project is important for Afghanistan. It is one of the needs of the people of the south-eastern parts of the country,” said Taj Mohammad Mangal a provincial council member.
