A heavy explosion rocked Kabul city earlier today leaving scores of people dead or wounded.
The blast took place close to the old compound of the ministry of interior of Afghanistan.
Security sources confirm the blast has taken place in the vicinity of Sedarat area and close to the old compound of the ministry of interior.
Public health ministry officials are saying that 95 dead bodies and 163 injured people have been shifted to the hospital so far.
A security official had earlier said that the blast has likely left around 20 people dead and over 100 others wounded.
Today’s attack was the second deadly incident that took place in the city over a period of almost one week.
A group of insurgnents launched a coordinated attack on Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul city on the night of 20th January sparking a clash that lasted for almost 15 hours, leaving several people dead including many foreigners.
