President Ghani’s Military Advisor Anwari Dies aged 60

President Ashraf Ghani’s military advisor and leader of Hizb-e-Harakat Islami party, Sayed Hussain Anwari, has died of illness at the age of 60.

Anwari who had travelled to India for medical treatment, died in an Indian hospital on Tuesday. He has left six daughters and five sons behind. Anwari’s body will arrive in Kabul on Friday and will be buried in Kabul.

Anwari was one of the prominent faces of Afghan politics. He was born in Sheikh Ali district of Parwan province. He also served as a key figure of Afghan Mujahedeen who fought against the Soviet forces in Afghanistan.
