Taliban group suffered 113 casualties in Northern Afghanistan

At least 113 Taliban insurgents have been killed in northern Afghanistan, an official confirmed on Monday.

Ghafoor Javid, spokesman for the Defense Ministry said that air and ground operations were conducted in Shirin-Tagab district of Faryab, as well as in Chahar-Bulak district of Balkh.

He added that the operations were conducted jointly by MoD and Resolute Support troops in which at least 113 Taliban insurgents were killed.

According to the statement, 11 militants have been arrested and nine more are wounded.

Taliban ambush Afghan Forces’ convoy in Faryab

The Taliban militants ambushed a convoy of Afghan military forces in northern Faryab province on Monday, killing at least three soldiers and wounding five others, officials said.

A statement by Shaheen Corps said that the Taliban began clashes with the security forces after their convoy hit a roadside mine in Ghormach district of the province.

Mohammad Tahir Rahmani, head of Faryab provincial council said that the convoy of Afghan forces being ambushed by the Taliban en route to Qaisar district of the province, adding that during the clashes both sides suffered heavy casualties.

The statement of Shaheen Corps, meanwhile, said that more than 50 Taliban insurgents including their two key commanders identified as Mullah Shawali and Mullah Qayoum were killed and 15 more were wounded in the clashes.

At least three Afghan soldiers were killed and five others were also injured in the incident.

Uprising commander joins Taliban in Faryab

A public uprising commander has joined with the Taliban group in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan.

According to Sebghatullah Sailab the deputy head of Faryab Provincial Council, the uprising commander, Ghulam Nabi Shuja, has joined the anti-government insurgent groups with hundred of his men in Dara Zang area of Garziwan district.

Sailab further added that the uprising commander has joined with Taliban insurgents due to personnel enmity with the district governor of the province.

He said, in the past, the two sides have killed at least 32 men of each other over the leadership of the area, but the central government has failed to investigate or take any action.

The local official expressed his concerns, saying that government should seek a reasonable solution to this problem.

Afghan Military deploy Special Forces and Warrior Choppers to Faryab

The Afghan Military has deployed additional Special Operations Forces and Warrior helicopters to northern Faryab province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the additional fresh forces and modern military equipment including warrior helicopters belonging to the Special Operations Forces recently arrived to Faryab airport.

The fresh foces and helicopters will be used to conduct counter-terrorism operations against the insurgent and terrorist groups in the North.

This comes as the counter-terrorism and clearance operations are already underway in the key northenr provinces including Faryab where the anti-government armed militant and terrorist groups are attempting to expand their foothold and insurgency activities.

Afghan military prevent clashes among Jamiat and Junbish parties in Faryab

The Afghan Military in the North with the support of the local tribal and political elders intervened to prevent clashes between Jamiat-e-Islami and Junbish Milli parties in northern Faryab province.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the commander of the Shaheen Corps Gen. Mubin and the local tribal and politcal elder as well as the local Ulemas intervened to prevent clashes between the supporters of the two parties.

According to reports, the supporters of the two parties were preparing for clashes as a member of Junbish Milli Nizamuddin Qaisari wanted to arrest the Jamiat-e-Islami party member Fatiullah Qaisari.

Daesh Insurgents In Burqas Kill 15 Taliban Members In Jawzjan

Two Daesh insurgents, wearing burqas, shot and killed 15 Taliban members in northern Jawzjan province on Tuesday, local officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The incident happened in Chaqma Chaqor village of Qoshtepa district of the province after the two Daesh insurgents opened fire on the Taliban who had gathered in the area, the district governor Aminullah said.

Taliban militants have reportedly captured Jani Khel district in Paktia

The Taliban insurgents have reportedly captured the control of Jani Khel district in southeastern Paktia province of Afghanistan.

Certain local officials have confirmed that the control of the district fell into the hands of the Taliban insurgents after days of heavy gun battle between the security forces and the insurgents.

The officials are saying that the Taliban insurgents once again launched a major attack on the security posts in the early hours of Tuesday morning and managed to seize the control of the district center.

However, the provincial police chief Toryalai Abadyani says the Afghan security forces are still in control of several check posts in the district.

Gen. Murad arrives in Kunduz amid deteriorating security situation

The Afghan National Army (ANA) deputy chief of staff Gen. Murad Ali Murad arrived in northern Kunduz province a day after the control of the strategic Khanabad district fell to Taliban forces.

Gen. Murad said he has started visit to Kunduz province to lead operations in a bid suppress the militants in this province.

He said his visit to Kunduz province follows shortly after controlling the security situation in southern Helmand province where the Taliban militants launched a coordianted attack.
