Contracts worth 700m Afghanis signed for water supply projects in 4 provinces

Contracts were signed for the implementation of projects for the construction of water supply networks in four provinces of the country, the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MUDH) said.

According to a statement released by MUDH, the contracts were signed between the Water Supply and Canalization Enterprise and Rasekh and Sefat contracting firms, in the presence of the Urban Development and Housing Minister Syed Sadat Mnister Naderi.

Speaking during the ceremony for the signing of the agreements, Minister Naderi said the residents of certain provinces are facing issues with the supply of drinking.

He pointed towards his recent visits to the provinces and said the issues of drinking water supply remain a top priority and issue for the residents of certain provinces along with several issues they face in terms of urban development.

Contract signed for gas power generation plant worth $39 million

A contract was signed for the construction of gas power generation plant to be built with a total investment of $39 million.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the contract was signed during a ceremony in the Presidential Palace on Saturday evening.

President Ghani was also present during the signing ceremony of the contract between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (State Power Utility Firm) and Bayat Power Distribution Services Company.

A statement by ARG Palace stated that the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat chairman Amanullah Ghalib and the Chief Executive of Bayat Power Firm Amanullah Bayat signed the contract.

Investment licensing contract signed for the $383m National Fiber Network

The investment licensing contract for $383 million National Fiber Optic Network project was signed during the latest meeting of the High Economic Council chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the contract was signed between the Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA), Afghan Wireless Company, Etisalat Telecommunication Company, and Asia Consulting Firm.

A statement by ARG Palace said the contract was signed in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Sunday afternoon.

China Signs Accord To Start Building 1,400 Apartments

Afghanistan’s Minister of Urban Development and Housing Sayed Saadat Mansour Naderi and the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Yao Jing on Thursday signed a contract for construction to start on 1,400 apartments in Kabul.

China will fund construction of 10,000 apartments in total with the initial phase totaling 1,400, said Naderi during the signing ceremony.

It is believed that construction work on the apartment buildings will start within two months and that the first phase will be finished in about two years.

The Chinese government has pledged to provide two billion Chinese Yuan (about $300 million USD) for the entire project.
