Construction work of iron melting factory kicks off in Kabul, worth $20 million

Government officials and businessmen laid the foundation stone for the construction of an Iron melting factory in Kabul on Tuesday which worth $20 million.

Khan Mohammad Wardak, the owner of the manufacturing factory said that the factory will begin operation next year.  “We have great capacity and can make major economic activities in the future,” he said.

The Iron melting factory is expected to create job opportunities to at least 2,000 people.

The first Deputy to CEO Khan Mohammad, meanwhile, said that a lot of challenges in front of investors in the country. But he said the government has taken major economic plans in this regard.

Contract signed for gas power generation plant worth $39 million

A contract was signed for the construction of gas power generation plant to be built with a total investment of $39 million.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, said the contract was signed during a ceremony in the Presidential Palace on Saturday evening.

President Ghani was also present during the signing ceremony of the contract between Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (State Power Utility Firm) and Bayat Power Distribution Services Company.

A statement by ARG Palace stated that the Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat chairman Amanullah Ghalib and the Chief Executive of Bayat Power Firm Amanullah Bayat signed the contract.

Work on Paktia dam to resume after seven years

Officials from Ministry of Energy and Water said a Russian company will resume construction of Machalgho dam in Paktia province.
The project costs more than $22 million USD.

“The project is crucial for Paktia province. We are working to resume the construction works,” said Mohammad Hakim Gheljaee, head of Water Supply and Water Implementation Supervision of the ministry.

Paktia provincial council members said the pervious contractor had received 30 percent of the project’s fund, but even five percent of the work was not completed.
