Seven members of one family wounded in Kabul rocket attack

At least seven people from one family were wounded in a rocket attack on a civilian area in PD5 in Kabul city on Tuesday afternoon.

The first explosion happened shortly after 1pm local time and the second about 10 minutes later. A third one followed a short while later.

Residents in the area reported that another three landed by 2pm local time.

“My children were having lunch when the explosion happened. All of them were frightened, we have fled the area,” said one Afshar resident Nafisa.

“If they can’t provide security to the people, they should step down so that someone else can come in, we are dying every day,” said another resident Sakina.

Kabul police have confirmed two children and one woman were seriously wounded in the attack and were taken to hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the first rocket landed on a house injuring the people inside. The other rockets reportedly landed on the slope of a nearby mountain.

Nine people mistakenly killed in Nangarhar raid

Afghan forces have killed nine people and injured eight others including a child and a women during a military operation in eastern Nangarhar province, officials confirmed Tuesday.

According to officials, the incident has taken place by mistake in Chino village in Dawlatziyo area of Chaparhar district late on Monday night as Afghan forces were conducting an operation against the Islamic State militants.

Provincial governor Hayatullah Hayat said the incident has happened due to a misunderstanding between Afghan forces and local police in the area.
