A suicide bomber who wanted to storm the residence of a Nangarhar lawmaker was gunned down by police force members before reaching his target.
The incident happened at around 6:50am Kabul time in Jalalabad City near the residence of Fraidoon Mohmand, an MP from Nangarhar, the provincial police chief Ghulam Sanaee Stanikzai said.
The lawmaker was not at his home when the attack happened, provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said.
He added that some students lived in the house.
Meanwhile, Stanikzai said the suicide bomber was gunned down by police at the first moments when he wanted to storm the house.
He said three people including two civilians and a policeman were killed and four others were wounded in the attack.
He added that the situation is under control of government forces, but the search operation is ongoing to secure the area.
