The Afghan armed forces have rescued at least seven civilians kept prisoners inside a Taliban-run cell in southern Uruzgan province.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the civilians were rescued during an operation conducted in Charchino district.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense, at least eight militants were also killed during the clashes with the Afghan forces.
The statement further added that a vehicle, six motorcycles, 4000 kgs of explosives, munitions, drugs, and weapons were also destroyed during the same operation.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban militants have not commented regarding the report so far.
Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in southern parts of the country where the Taliban militants are actively operating in some of its districts and often carry out terrorist related activities.
This comes as the Afghan armed forces had rescued at least 105 civilians during a similar operation in southern Helmand province nearly one and half month ago.
