President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has appointed Zia Ul Haq Amar Khel as the Special Presidential Adviser in Public and Political Affairs.
The administrative office of the President in a statement said President Ghani has issued a decree confirming the appointment of Mr. Zia Ul Haq Amarkhel as Special Presidential Adviser in Public and Political Adviser.
The statement further added that Mr. Amarkhel has been appointed as Senior Presidential Adviser in accordance with the item#12 and article#64 of the constitution of Afghanistan.
Zia Ul Haq Amarkhel has previously served as the Secretariat Chief of the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan.
He was one of the candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections but was dropped by the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission nearly one and half months ago.
Amarkhel was in charge of the Secretariat of Independent Election Commission during the 2014 presidential elections which was marred by massive elections.
