High-ranking officials from Afghanistan, United States and Pakistan in two separate meetings in Kabul discussed the fight against Daesh and Afghanistan-Pakistan bilateral military cooperation, reports indicate.
The meetings were held at the Ministry of Defense on Thursday.
A six-member high-level military delegation from Pakistan, led by Director General Military Operations Pakistan Army, Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza represented Islamabad at the meetings, Pakistan’s Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement quoted by APP.
The officials from the two countries reiterated their commitment to continue fight against the common threat of terrorism.
Mutual security interests and concerns in this respect were highlighted at the meetings.
Reports indicate that the three sides expressed their commitment to uproot Daesh from the region, which can best be achieved through information sharing, complementary efforts and enhanced cooperation.
In a separate bilateral meeting, Afghan and Pakistani officials discussed important issues on cross-Durand Line incursions, counter-terrorism, coordinated actions against respective side along the Durand Line and detainees’ exchange.
Pakistan’s APP reported that the two sides agreed to make progress in line with the commitments made at recent high-level meetings and formulate an action plan, which will contribute towards improving security along the Durand Line through enhanced cooperation.
