Population Registration Department (PRD) is set to announce a clear date for distribution of electronic Identity Cards (e-ID Cards) next week, officials said Sunday.
The Population Registration Department said that they are ready from a technical perspective to begin issuing e-ID cards in Kabul.
“We are set to announce a date for the beginning of this process,” said Rohullah Ahmadzai, Spokesman of the PRD.
This comes as earlier, the office has set August 14 as the date for e-ID cards (Tazkera) rollout, but the plan has not been implemented.
However, lately, President Ashraf Ghani has ordered the Population Registration Department to get ready for issuing electronic identity cards within coming days.
