Protesters close Kabul – Gardiz Highway in Logar

Hundreds of protesters on Wednesday closed Kabul – Gardiz highway, accusing the Afghan forces of killing eight civilians in an airstrike.

Protesters claimed that Afghan intelligence operatives have killed eight civilians including women and children during an operation in Muhammad Agha district on Tuesday night.

Demonstrators called on the government to punish the culprits.

Residents claim 17 civilians killed during ANDSF operation in Nangarhar

The inhabitants of the Rodat district of Nangarhar province have claimed that at least 17 civilians including children were killed during Afghan National and Defense Security Forces’ operation.

The families of victims’ staged protest and laid the bodies of the deceased next to the Jalalabad-Torkham route and closed the highway to traffic.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of Nangarhar governor Ataullah Khogyani said the operation was carried out late on Tuesday night and the exact figure of casualties is not known so far.

He added that a high level delegation was assigned to investigate the incident.

Taliban militants blown up by own explosives in Baghlan province

AT least two Taliban militants were killed while planting Improvised Explosive Devices on a roadside in northenr Baghlan province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the incident has taken place in the vicinity of Imam Qatiba area.

The source further added that the two militants were looking to plant IEDS on a road frequented by the Afghan security and defense forces but were killed after one of the IEDs went off prematurely.

The anti-government armed militant groups frequently use explosives materials for the roadside bombings and car bombings to target the government staff and security personnel.
