Taliban attack army base in Kunduz, killing 14 soldiers

At least 14 soldiers killed and several others injured in a Taliban attack over a military base in Dash-e-Archi district of Kunduz last night, survived soldiers said Thursday.

Abdullah, an Afghan army soldier who was wounded in the fight with the Taliban in Kunduz, said that Taliban militants were equipped with modern weapons.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Hazrat Karimi, a spokesman for the 20th Pamir Division confirmed the attack but did not provide the exact number of casualties sustained to Afghan security forces.

“Taliban attacked from three sides over Dasht-e-Archi district. Twelve enemies were killed and nineteen others were wounded and we have their dead bodies. Casualties have also sustained to our forces,” Karimi said.

Taliban’s Red Unit commander among 3 killed in Kunduz clash

At least six Taliban insurgents including a commander of the Red Unit of the group were killed or wounded during a clash in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan army in a statement said three Taliban insurgents including a commander of the Red Unit of the group were killed during the clash with the Afghan forces.

The statement further added that the Taliban commander killed during the clash has been identified as Mumtaz and at least three others were critically wounded.

According to the Shaheen Corps, the clash took place in the vicinity of Chel Cheragh Bagh Sherkat area of the province.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

A-29s pound Taliban targets in Kunduz leaving 6 militants dead, wounded

At least six militants were killed or wounded in a series of airstrikes conducted by the Afghan Air Force in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan army in a statement said the Afghan Air Force A-29 light attack planes carried out a string of airstrikes on Taliban targets in Dasht-e-Archi district.
The statement further added that two Taliban insurgents were killed as a result of the airstrikes conducted in Seh Rahi Mohammad Alm village and Tapa-e-Mohibullah.

At leat four Taliban insurgents were also wounded, two of their hideouts were destroyed and some weapons including a rocket launched, one PKM machine gun, and two Ak-47s were destroyed, the statement added.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Kunduz police administrative deputy rescued a year after kidnapped by Taliban

The Kunduz police former administrative deputy chief Wahidullah Begzad was rescued from the Taliban captivity almost a year after he was taken hostage during an ambush by the Taliban insurgents.

Afghan forces retake control of Qala-e-Zal district in Kunduz

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have retaken the Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz province, ten days after the Taliban insurgents seized its control.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) confirmed that the control of the district was retaken during the operations launched around 6 am local time today.

The provincial police spokesman Mr. Rahmani earlier said the offensive is underway as the Afghan forces have made major gains as the offensive is underway.

He said the operations were launched from the Aqtapa village and Afghan forces are moving forward to fully clear the district.

Taliban Attack On Takhar’s District Pushed Back

Lieutenant Gen. Sher Aziz Kamawal said a group of militants attacked the district governor’s office and set fire to parts of the building.

A group of Taliban militants attacked the district governor’s office in Takhar’s Khwaja Bahawuddin district on Thursday night and set fire to the district building, sources from the province said.

However, the commander of north-eastern police zone, Lieutenant General Sher Aziz Kamawal said in a statement on Friday that a group of militants attacked the district governor’s office and set fire to parts of the building.
Kamawal said the militants were pushed back by security forces after they arrived at the area.

Taliban leader involved in Kunduz city attacks has been killed

A top Taliban leader who was involved in major attacks on the strategic Kunduz city has been killed, the local security officials said Sunday.

According to the local security officials, Mullah Abdul Salam was killed along with his eleven fighters in an airstrike conducted by the foreign forces in Dasht-e-Archi district.

A spokesman for Afghan National Police’s 808th Spinzar Zone in northeastern parts of the country, Mahfoozullah Akbari, confirmed the death of Mullah Abdul Salam and the other insurgents.

He said another senior Taliban leader Qari Amin who was appointed as district chief by the group was also among those killed.

Lala Del Souz, the head of the Sikh community in Kunduz city, was killed by unknown gunmen Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

Del Souz, a naturopath, was gunned down at about 9am in the Haji Gulistan Kochi Haman area of the city.

A local commander of the Taliban group was among at least 18 killed during the operations in the strategic Kunduz city.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the Taliban commander Ghulam Safi was killed along with 17 others during the operations conducted in the vicinity of Kunduz city.

Residents Urge Govt To Secure Kunduz

Sources from Kunduz said on Friday that the residents of the city are living in a bad situation and want government’s help to end the war and ensure their safety.

According to the sources, thousands of Kunduz residents have been displaced due to the war and are facing with lack of food, water, shelter and medicine.

Local officials said the security forces retook control of Khwaja Mashd, Bandar-e-Kabul and Hawza-e Awal areas in Kunduz city on Thursday night, but according to the officials, Taliban militants have still control over Bandar-e-Khan Abad, Zakhail, Naseri and Chaman regions in the outskirts of the city.

Sources said that nearly 200 Taliban militants and around 20 security force members have been killed and wounded in Kunduz battle.

The sources also said that people have taken out to the Kunduz Airport road and a number of shops were also opened on Friday morning.
