The Afghan intelligence operatives have thwarted a plot by the anti-government armed militant groups to detonate a car bomb in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province.
Nangarhar governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani told reporters that the Afghan intelligence operatives discovered and confiscated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device from Rod district as the militants were looking to use it for an attack in Jalalabad city.
Khogyani further added that the car bomb was seized from Dami Ghondi area and blamed the Haqqani terrorist network for planning the attack.
He said the car bomb was detonated shortly after it was captured and around 250 kgs of explosives, 8 rockets, some hand grenades, and some other explosives were also discovered from the vehicle.
