MoD: Afghan forces step up attacks on Taliban after ceasefire

Afghan forces have expanded their military operations and attacks on Taliban which more than 600 of them were killed or wounded during a week, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

“The enemies of Afghanistan had more than 350 people casualties after the ceasefire,” Muhammad Radmanish, spokesman of MoD said.

Radmanish noted the airstrikes on Taliban have also intensified compared to the past.

MoD claims that at least 8 to 12 airstrikes carries out every day which reduces the number of operational areas for the troops.

Major operations ‘Khalid’ to be launched soon to retake lost areas

The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) will launch a major counter-terrorism operation under the name of Khalid to retake the lost areas.

The Minister of Interior Taj Mohammad Jahid informed regarding the plan as was he was briefing the lawmakers in the Lower House of the Parliament, Wolesi Jirga.

Jahid was among the three top security officials summoned regarding the recent security incidents and deteriorating security situation.

Over 3,500 Military Operations Launched In Seven Months

Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Sunday said at least 3,600 military operations have been launched across the country over the past seven months – killing nearly 9,000 insurgents so far.

“We managed to carry out 10 to 30 military operations on a daily basis in various provinces. Thousands of insurgents have been killed and their important resources have been destroyed so far,” said Mohammad Radmanish, deputy spokesman for the Defense Ministry.
